Contrary to popular knowledge there is actually no requirement to label any equipment that requires inspections and testing; but it is a useful visual aid that the appliance has actually been checked.

If you don’t want nasty labels on your appliances that’s fine, just tell you PAT company that.

If a label is used it should have an appliance identifier (usually a unique number), the date of the test (month and year is sufficient) and an indication of whether the appliance has passed or failed.
